The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Kew Gardens man for an incident
that occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9:00 am in Hicksville.
According to Detectives, the defendant, Michael Klug, 45, of 12007 85 th Avenue
was observed by the store manger of CVS, located at 202 West Old Country Road,
removing items from the store and attempt to leave without paying. The manger
confronted the defendant who shoved the manager and fled on foot on northbound
on Newbridge Road. Second Precinct officers were able to locate the defendant at
the intersection of West Cherry Road and Newbridge Road. Officers were able to
place the defendant into police custody but an officer sustained injuries during the
course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting
arrest. The defendant and a Second Precinct officer were transported to local
hospitals for treatment.
Defendant Klug is charged with Robbery 2 nd Degree, Assault 2 nd Degree and
Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at First District
Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
