Dear Long Islander,

It's less than a week away from Thanksgiving, and Long Island's long road to recovery post-Sandy has been traveled by all of us, with many Long Islanders reflecting on what they can be thankful for, and reaching out to other locals who did not fare as well during the storm. In addition ot the latest updates about LI's recovery after Superstorm Sandy, we've put together guides and resources to help Long Island celebrate the holiday - including simple recipes, upcoming turkey trots, local eateries offering to-go turkey this year, and food pantries where you can make donations to help other locals in need. No matter how you're celebrating Thanksgiving this year, we wish you a happy holiday, and hope that you, and your family can enjoy the day together giving thanks.

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trots Around Long Island
Get Your Workout On Pre-Thanksgiving Feast This Year!
Turkey trots and Turkey races abound on Thanksgiving Day morning. If you are not trapped in the kitchen waiting for the turkey to cook, or if you are but want the rest of the family out from under foot, a morning Turkey Trot may be just the thing. They're also a good way to burn off some calories before gorging on turkey and trimmings - if you're one to go back for seconds, getting your exercise on pre-meal is a great way to get ahead of dreaded fat that comes with feasting on holidays. So strap on some running shoes and join a turkey trot near you this year.
