The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 6:58 p.m. in Freeport.
According to detectives, while attempting to cross Merrick Road in the vicinity Henry Street, from the north side to the south side, a female pedestrian was struck by a 2008 Volkswagen traveling eastbound on Merrick Road.
The female, 51, suffered trauma to her head and body. She was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced at 7:33 pm by a hospital physician.
The male operator, 62, remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
