Debbie Gibson Wins Big for Animal Rescue on "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune"
It wasn’t only in her dreams. Merrick-raised pop icon Debbie Gibson emerged triumphant on the November 27th episode of ABC's "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune," securing a $95,750 donation for an animal-rescue organization close to her heart.
Gibson faced off against competitors fashion maven, author, and actor Tim Gunn and actor Luis Guzman. Despite facing initial hurdles, the award-winning singer-songwriter reached the bonus round where she solved the puzzle winning nearly $96,000 for California's RockNRoll Rescue.
The organization's mission resonated with Gibson, who had previously encountered their work through social media and was captivated by their dedication to saving lives. "When I was on social media, just, like, trying to save a dog," she explained in a promo video, "I encountered this incredible organization." She also expressed her admiration for Joe Altieri, a board member of the rescue group, and his dedication to saving dogs. "He's so passionate," she stated, "And being a dog mom of three dogs, I have to agree. And this would be life-altering money for Joe and he could save so many more dogs."
Debbie Gibson, known for hits including “Only In My Dreams,” “Foolish Beat,” “Lost in Your Eyes,” and “Electric Youth,” is currently on tour, playing The Gramercy in Manhattan on December 2 before heading to Los Angeles for several dates.
