As we battle through a second surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hard-working commuters of Nassau County cannot afford a fare increase by the MTA.
I’m grateful for the essential transit workers who’ve kept our transportation systems running during this unprecedented crisis, as well as the returning riders who travel each day.
I call on the federal government for immediate aid for the MTA. We must ensure that the MTA has a plan that provides long-term sustainability and shows real transformation savings before we burden riders with a fare increase.
I ask that the MTA Board vote no on a fare increase.
