Everyone would love to skate under the tree in Rockefeller Center in New York City, however, lines can be very long and the commute can be troublesome this time of year. Luckily, Long Island has many outdoor ice rinks that will be open to the public this winter, so you do not have to go far to enjoy a day of ice skating!

Most outdoor rinks are seasonal due to the fact that an ice rink will have a more difficult time lasting over the summer - New York's cold winter temperatures make for the perfect environment for an outdoor rink.
