Seth Raynor first designed this 18-hole private golf course around the contours of an old castle in the very heart of Long Island, employing his traditional links style. While much of that character has been kept, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. redesigned the course in 1968. It measures 6,395 yards from its longest tees and has a par value of 71. Also, the rating is 71 and the slope is 131. The course is considered both challenging and beautiful. The old stable has been renovated to contain a lovely clubhouse complete with locker rooms, dining facilities and a full bar. A pool was added in the 50s and tennis courts are also on-site. The in-house golf professional offers individual and group instruction. Club carts and caddies are available. Walking is permitted. The club is open March through December.
