Until its closure in 2006, this 18-hole public golf course was known as “The Ponds at Lake Grove.” It was designed by Buddy Johnson in 1995. Today, the par-60, 3,500-yard layout offers challenge and entertainment to golfers of all skill levels. The narrow, executive course is built on rather hilly terrain, which has created tricky, uneven lies. From the elevated tees, players enjoy views of both the natural scenery and the local wildlife. The greens are fast and average in size. High standing rough defines the fairways and there are water hazards on seven holes. Walking is allowed and equipment rental is available through the on-site Pro shop. The driving range is lighted for night use as well as daytime practice. A full bar and snack bar are on hand for thirsty or hungry players. The in-house teaching professional offers both private instruction and group lessons. Catering facilities host banquets and other special events on this picturesque property.
