The New York Shock Exchange (NYSE) is Long Island's only men's roller derby league. It was founded by Jonathan Rockey., a former referee for Gotham Girls Roller Derby, in 2006 and in 2007 Jonathan swiftly gathered players and organized a bout between NYSE and the Massachusetts team, Pioneer Valley Roller Derby. Later that year, both teams, along with the Charm City Roller Girls, created the Men's Derby Coalition (MDC), later known as the Men's Roller Derby Association (MRDA). In 2010, NPR described the Shock Exchange as "quite possibly the strongest men's roller derby team in the country." They maintain an undefeated record. NYSE often organizes its bouts as doubleheaders with Long Island's women's team, the Long Island Roller Rebels.
