Chosen as “Long Island’s Course of the Year” in 2009, this 18-hole public club has a lot to offer golfers who want some challenge in their game. Francis J. Duane designed the interesting layout in 1964 and built in enough twists to require every club in your bag. The course may be played from three different sets of tees ranging in distance from 5,390 yards to 7,050 yards. The par value is 71. Although there are few water hazards to avoid, the course is somewhat hilly with undulating greens and tree-lined fairways. Newsday mentions Rock Hill as one of the “must play” courses for golfing enthusiasts. In addition to the driving range and on-site Pro shop, the club maintains an online golf store. The “Michael Jacobs Explosive Golf School” offers classes to all ages and levels. The beautiful restaurant can comfortably handle parties as small as 20 or as large as 450. There are also two full bars and a beautiful outside deck from which to enjoy the lovely scenery. This facility is open year-round.
