Sitting as close as possible to the National Golf Links and Shinnecock Hills clubs, this 18-hole private golf facility is the brainchild of Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak. It opened in 2006. The views alone are enough to commend one of the newest and most exclusive clubs on Long Island. Both Great Peconic Bay and Cold Spring Pond are clearly visible from this idyllic setting. At 7,286 yards from its longest tees and with a par value of 72, this layout consists of rolling fairways, waste dunes, enormous bunkers and undulating greens with tricky burrows and swales. It presents a strong golfing challenge to even the best of players. Many of the holes replicate other famous ones from courses around the world. A 19th hole has been added for tie-breaking games. Skillful design by its architects has worked the course into the wild terrain by following its natural contours and features, creating a challenging but equally beautiful layout. Sebonack was voted Best New Private Course by Golfing Magazine in 2007. Typical private club amenities are available including charming cottages for overnight guests.
