Today, over 20,000 historical artifacts are on displayed at the Suffolk County Historical Society's museum, erected in 1930 with two extra wings added in 1951 and another in 1964. Permanent and changing exhibitions are used portray important moments in Suffolk County history. It's artifacts reflect more than three centuries of history and is particularly strong in the areas of decorative, fine, and folk arts, costumes and textiles, and natural and general history.
