Suffolk County Transit, founded in 1980, today operates a weekday fleet of over 160 buses serving more than 20,000 Long Islanders daily and over 15,000 on Saturdays. There are more than 50 regualr routes that serve all of Suffolk County. Fare discounts are available for senior citizens, as well as students when they show their student I.D. cards. Children under the age of five ride for free, and persoal care attendants ride for free when accompanying their patients. Conveniently, the Huntinton Area Rapid Transit, called HART, connects Suffolk County Transit with Nassau Inter-County Express, making island-wide travel easy.
