More recently known as the Tallgrass Golf Course, this 18-hole public golf course has been listed as one of four “Long Island Best Courses You Can Play,” according to Golfweek. It has also been recognized as 9th for the entire state of New York in 2011. Built a little more than a decade ago on 150 acres of the Delalio family farm, the layout belongs to architect Gil Hanse who chose an appealing Scottish-links style. The course measures 6,587 yards from its longest tees and has a par value of 72. Challenges include more than 70 enormous bunkers, dune-like areas and acres of blue-gray fescue grasses. In addition to the typical amenities such as a driving range and full Pro shop, Tallgrass is one of the locations for the National Golf School. The clubhouse offers both fine pub-style dining and large event catering. This club is open seven days a week.
