Medical director of The Ophthalmic Center, Vincent P. Basilice, M.D., began a private practice over 30 years ago in 1978. Committed and compassionated, every patient walking through the practice’s doors knew they were in good hands. Many of Dr. Basilice’s employees have been on staff since the beginning of this business venture of medical expertise without compromise. News spread through word-of-mouth of a doctor who would show up at the office on a Sunday to see a patient with a minor emergency; a doctor who would carry a patient from their car into the office during a glaucoma attack; a doctor that gave out his private number so patients could contact him whenever needed. Business began to boom and The Ophthalmic Center has moved locations three times since its opening but business has not slowed.  Thought responsible for thousands of patients the staff still holds to the same level of commitment of the best ophthalmic care on the Island.
