Deer Park is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York. The Deer Park School District serves the residents of the hamlet, and the hamlet has its own fire department.
Historically, Deer Park was a part of Jacob Conklin’s 1610 settlement of Half Way Hollow Hills, later called Wheatley Heights. Charles Wilson established what is now Deer Park in 1853, eleven years after the Long Island Rail Road was expanded to the area. Two major industries flourished in Deer Park prior to 1940: the Walker and Conklin firm that produced red bricks, and the Golden Pickle Works, which produced pickles.
According to the 2010 census, the population of Deer Park is 28,032. The median household income is listed as $79,280.
