At six minutes and 20 seconds after midnight baby Natalia was born at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH), making her the first baby girl born on Long Island. While her arrival was timely, she wasn’t the first baby born on Long Island.

 

Baby Natalia was beaten to the punch by a baby boy, Bernard, who was delivered at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside at about three minutes after midnight, according to Newsday.

 

Baby Natalia was born to parents Giselle Delahoz, 33, and José Francisco Adrian, 34, both of East Rockaway, LI. She weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

 

Baby Bernard was 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

 

"Once the ball dropped, the nurses turned to me and said ‘Happy New Year, now push,’ and push I did," said Delahoz.
