A Roslyn man accused of causing a fatal wrong-way crash while driving drunk and high on drugs, resulting in the tragic deaths of two 14-year-old boys and the serious injuring of two others, pleaded guilty in a Nassau County courtroom Friday as part of a plea agreement that shave a potential extra seven years off his maximum sentence.

While members of the victims' families looked on, construction executive Amandeep Singh, 36, pleaded guilty to 10 counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide and DWI, in connection with the horrific crash, which took place in May 2023.

Singh had previously pleaded not guilty and had turned down similar plea agreements that had been offered to him in the past. In accepting this plea, he avoided a potential maximum sentence of 32 years; he now faces a maximum sentence of 8 1/3 to 25 years for the top count.

On May 3 at 10:31 p.m., a 2019 Dodge Ram operated by Singh was traveling at speeds up to 95 miles per hour southbound in the northbound lanes of North Broadway and collided with a 2019 Alpha Romero 4-door sedan occupied by four male juveniles.

As a result of the collision, Drew Hassenbein and Ethan Falkowitz, both 14, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced at scene. The two additional males, Zach Sheena and Ethan Solop, were taken to a local hospital and admitted for internal injuries.

Hassenbein was a national tennis player in the 14-and-under ranks for Roslyn High School, and had been ranked as high as No. 1 in the U.S. at 12-and-under. Falkowitz also played tennis for the high school.

After the initial collision, Singh then additionally struck a 2023 Volvo, occupied by a 49-year-old female and her 16 -year-old male passenger. They were treated at scene for minor injuries and released.

Singh fled the scene of the crash on foot, and was found and arrested by police nearby.

At the time of the crash, authorities say that Singh had been heavily drinking - with a blood-alcohol level of 0.18, over twice the legal limit - and had cocaine in his system.

Singh's sentencing will take place at a later date.
