Nassau Homicide Squad Identifies Victim in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident in Plainview

The Homicide Squad reports that they have identified the male victim of a Vehicular Accident with a Fatality that originally took place on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 5:55 PM in Plainview and ultimately resulted in the arrest of a College Point woman.
 
According to detectives, Kevin Lawry, 38, of Plainview was crossing Old Country Road from north to south in the vicinity of Floral Avenue when he was struck by a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on Old Country Road. The vehicle did not stop and continued eastbound. The victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced at scene by a Nassau County Police Medic.
 
After a thorough investigation, it was determined that Defendant Veronica Marmol, 39, of 1812 125th Street was operating the vehicle. She was placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Veronica Marmol is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident resulting in Death. She was arraigned on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at First District Court, Hempstead.
