AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD Investigating Incident of North Amityville Home Struck By Gunfire

First Squad Detectives are investigating a shooting after 911 callers reported gunfire in North Amityville this morning.

Investigations revealed that shots were fired and a bullet struck an occupied home on County Line Road in North Amityville.

North Amityville, NY - January 4, 2016 - First Squad Detectives are investigating a shooting after 911 callers reported gunfire in North Amityville this morning.

Numerous 911 callers reported shots being fired from a white vehicle at a black Acura sedan near County Line Road and Bentley Road in North Amityville at approximately 8:30 a.m. When

First Precinct officers arrived, both vehicles had fled the scene.  Investigations revealed that shots were fired and a bullet struck an occupied home on County Line Road in North Amityville.

There were no injuries. A short time later, officers located the Acura, which was unoccupied, at a residence on East Smith Street in North Amityville.

The vehicle was impounded and the investigation is continuing.
