Nassau County, NY - January 5, 2016 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency (VSA) today announced a new pilot program in conjunction with the Northport VA Medical Center’s Veterans Outreach Program to provide veterans with local podiatry services.
County Executive Mangano stated, “A Mobile Podiatry Unit will be brought each Thursday to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, thereby reducing the number of trips our veterans need to make to the Veterans Hospital in Northport. Doctors are able to follow up with patients and provide necessary podiatry care when needed by veterans. Simple podiatry check-ups can often avoid infection and hospitalization.”
The VA Mobile Podiatry Unit will be positioned within Eisenhower Park, Parking Field 2, in East Meadow. The program is due to begin on Thursday, January 7th, and will continue each week thereafter from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., by appointment only.
