Kaminsky sworn in, lays out priorities for upcoming session.

Albany, NY - January 5, 2017 - Yesterday, Senator Todd Kaminsky was officially sworn in for his first full term in the New York State Senate in a ceremony on the floor of the Senate chamber. Flanked by supporters and colleagues, New York State Chief Judge Janet DiFiore administered the oath of office, as the Senator vowed to continue fighting for New Yorkers and his constituents throughout the 9th Senate District.

“Words cannot express how humbled I am to accept the oath of office and the responsibility of representing my constituents and the best interests of this great state,” said Senator Kaminsky. “This session I will press the people’s agenda: cutting taxes, giving our children the education they deserve, and putting an end to the corruption that has infested our government. We need to make Long Island more affordable, get our fair share of funding for our local schools and infrastructure, and ensure that our government and public servants work for the people they are sworn to serve.”

Prior to his election to the Senate, Kaminsky served as the Assemblymember for the 20th Assembly District, where he set a record, passing more bills than any other freshman legislator in recent history. Last year, Kaminsky secured a $20 million increase in state aid for South Shore classrooms, worked with his colleagues to cut middle-class income taxes to the lowest rates in 70 years, voted more than 175 times against raising taxes, and led on ethics reform.

Before becoming a state legislator, Kaminsky was a prosecutor in both the Queens District Attorney’s Office and the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he served as acting deputy chief of the Public Integrity Unit and successfully prosecuted corrupt politicians, including both Democrats and Republicans.
