Suspect Wanted for Using Fake Currancy to Buy $2,700 in Gift Cards

Amityville, NY - January 6th, 2015 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who used counterfeit bills in a Village of Amityville convenience store in December, 2014.

A black male entered a 7-Eleven store located at 403 Broadway on December 8, 2014 and bought $2700 worth of gift cards and paid for them with counterfeit $100 bills.

 The suspect is described as black, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing glasses, a white baseball cap and a blue sweatshirt with USA printed on the front and the numbers 012 on the back. He fled in a red vehicle that may have been a Nissan.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
