Oceanside, NY - January 7, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (left) along with Nassau County Commissioner of Social Services John E. Imhof Ph.D. commended Cory Nichols of Oceanside for his philanthropic work on behalf of Long Island’s hungry. Cory viewed a documentary in 2012 “Hard Times: Lost on Long Island,” regarding the struggle some Long Islander families face, and his quest began. Cory began by donating money from his Bar Mitzvah, but quickly realized that more work was needed. Today Cory heads up “C the Difference: Cory Cares,” which is a 501C3 charity consisting of a nine member junior advisory board, and approximately 50 young volunteers. Each month Cory and his group of volunteers spend hours purchasing food through his nonprofit and stocking local food pantries.

County Executive Mangano praised the 14 year old freshman stating, “Cory is an amazing role model for Nassau County’s youth.
