AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Vincent Fandetta, 40, was arrested on multiple charges, cops say.

The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Deer Park man for weapons and narcotic offenses that occurred on January 5, 2025 at 11:51 p.m. in Massapequa.
 
According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations Officers while on patrol observed the defendant Vincent Fandetta, 40, of 1 Overton Street, operating a green 1996 Chevrolet van traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway in the vicinity of Unqua Road with illegal tints on the front and passenger windows and non-working license plate lamps. The officers continued to follow the vehicle eastbound and observed the defendant fail to maintain his lane. Officers then activated their emergency lights and sirens in the vicinity of Louden and County Line Road. 
 
The defendant failed to pull over until he reached the ramp to Route 110 southbound. At this time a vehicle and traffic law stop and investigation was initiated. 
 
During the investigation officers recovered a black expandable baton, a black switchblade knife, a defaced, silver, Raven Arms P25, .25 caliber handgun, a loaded magazine containing six .25 caliber bullets, yellow metal knuckles, and a bb gun. Upon further investigation, officers located multiple yellow Ziplock bags containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and numerous pills believed to be controlled substances.  
 
The defendant was placed under arrest without further incident.
 
The defendant Vincent Fandetta is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, seven counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and four traffic infractions. He was arraigned on Monday, January 6, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
