Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) and New York State Assemblymember Michaelle Solages on Friday, Dec. 20 presented a $50,000 grant to ICNA Relief. The Legislature voted unanimously on Monday, Dec. 9 in favor of releasing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding in support of the 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization and its ongoing efforts to combat hunger through the operations of its Masjid Hamza food pantry in Valley Stream.
“Throughout my service as a Nassau County Legislator, I have been profoundly grateful to my Muslim brothers and sisters at ICNA Relief for their commitment to opening their doors and their homes to help everyone in our community,” Legislator Solages said. “Their efforts at the Masjid Hazma food pantry are just one of the many humanitarian initiatives that made a tremendous impact during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, and I look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to ensure no family in Nassau County ever goes hungry.”
