AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. NCPD: Bayville Man Arrested for Driving Drunk with Three Children in Vehicle

Cornelio Bonilla Villatoro, 33, was charged with multiple counts of Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated DWI Leandra’s Law.

The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a DWI Leandra’s Law arrest that occurred on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Glen Head.
 
According to Police, Officers responded to an auto accident that occurred at 12 Robert Road and observed a 2022 Honda Pilot had struck a parked 2005 Kia. 
 
The Honda was occupied with a male driver, 33, and three juveniles ages 7, 2 and 6 months of age.  Officers spoke with the driver and observed the occupants did not have any injuries.  
 
Subsequent to the investigation the driver was arrested without incident for Driving While Intoxicated.  
 
The children were released to their mother, who had responded to the scene. The vehicle was impounded from the scene.
 
Defendant Cornelio Bonilla Villatoro of 9 Bay Beach Avenue Bayville was charged with multiple counts of Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated DWI Leandra’s Law along with multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  
 
The Defendant was arraigned on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
