Suffolk Police Report Man Arrested for DWI after Crashing into Police Vehicle
Holtsville, NY - January 11, 2019 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his pickup truck into a stopped police vehicle in Holtsville on Thursday, January 10.
Brian Eddington was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram northbound on Nichols Road when he crashed into the back of a police vehicle at approximately 8:55 p.m. A Fifth Precinct officer had responded to an earlier crash at the scene, and was inside his vehicle with the overhead lights illuminated, off the roadway, when the incident occurred. The officer was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Eddington, 43, of Medford, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, January 11.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
