The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Long Beach man for Assault that occurred on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 3:00 am in Long Beach.
According to detectives, Fourth Precinct police responded to the Plantation Motel located at 4040 Long Beach Road for a man causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, police observed the defendant James Becker, 39, of 315 Chester Street yelling loudly and being uncooperative.
Defendant Becker then approached a Fourth Precinct officer and struck him on the left side of chin using a closed fist. Defendant Becker then fled on foot across the street to a parking lot located at 4005 Long Beach Road at which time Forth Precinct police deployed an electronic control device (ECD) preventing him from climbing over a fence.
Police attempting to place the defendant into custody sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. Two Fourth Precinct Officer’s were transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital and treated for pain to a right knee and a left arm bite mark. The defendant was also evaluated and treated.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Becker was also responsible for two Domestic Burglaries that occurred in Lido Beach on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 and on Friday, January 5, 2024.
Defendant James Becker is charged with 3 counts of Assault 2nd Degree, 2 counts Burglary 2nd Degree, 3 counts Grand Larceny 4th Degree, 2 counts Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, 2 counts Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 2 counts of Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at First District Court in Hempstead.
