AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD: Four People Arrested at Safety Checkpoint

North Babylon, NY - January 12, 2014 - Suffolk County Police have arrested four people during an overnight safety checkpoint operation in North Babylon.

Suffolk County Police First Precinct patrol officers, along with the Highway Patrol SAFE-T Section and Second and Third Precinct patrol officers conducted a safety checkpoint on Deer Park Road in North Babylon between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. this morning. This operation was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
 
The following were charged with Driving while Intoxicated:
  • Richard Bruckner, 22 of Lindenhurst
  • Dana Wisniewiski, 55, of East Islip
  • Jason Harper, 28, of Islip
The following person was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated:
  • Katelyn Clasper, 28, of West Babylon
The above individuals are scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
