AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Shot During Armed Robbery at Gas Station

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a man was shot during an armed robbery at a Gas Station in Huntington Station last night.

The armed robbery fled on foot with cash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Huntington Station, NY - January 12, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a man was shot during an armed robbery at a Gas Station in Huntington Station last night.

A man wearing a mask and carrying a gun approached an attendant at the gas pumps of the USA gas station, located at 1290 New York Ave., at approximately 9:45 p.m. and demanded cash. A confrontation ensued and the robber fired a shot, hitting the victim in the leg. The suspect fled on foot with cash.

The victim was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of his injury.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately six feet tall, with a thin build.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
