Hicksville Woman Busted for Driving Drunk with Carload of Children, Police Report

Elizabeth Maldonado, 34, is charged with 4 counts of Aggravated DWI with a Child Passenger Less than 16 years (Leandra’s Law), 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, DWI and Aggravated DWI.

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Hicksville woman for DWI (Leandra’s Law) that occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 11:10 pm in Hicksville.
 
According to Police, a male victim, 34, had an argument with his wife at a restaurant located in Mineola.  The argument escalated and the victim’s wife, defendant Elizabeth Maldonado, 34, of Hicksville, punched the victim in the face. Defendant Maldonado left the scene in a 2022 Dodge Durango with their three (3) children (ages 6, 7, and 14), along with a fourth child, a 14-year-old male juvenile. The victim called 911 and Officers responded to their Hicksville residence to investigate the domestic incident.
 
While at the residence, Officers observed the black Durango return home with the children inside. After an investigation, it was determined that defendant Maldonado was intoxicated and she was arrested without incident. 
 
Defendant Maldonado is charged with four (4) counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger Less than 16 years (Leandra’s Law), four (4) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, DWI and Aggravated DWI. She will be arraigned on Monday, January 13, 2025 at First District Court, Hempstead.
