NCPD: Elmont Man Attempts to Gouge Out Officer's Eye While Resisting Arrest
The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 3:30 pm in Elmont.
According to Detectives, officers while on routine patrol recognized the defendant Hurguens Jasmin, 28, of 269 S. King Street walking on Dutch Broadway in the vicinity of Opal Street to have an active Nassau County arrest warrant.
Officers approached the defendant who immediately became violent and combative. The defendant punched one officer in the face numerous times causing substantial pain and attempted to gouge out another officer’s eye while attempting to flee the scene. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to a local area hospital for evaluation. The injured officers were also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Defendant Hurguens Jasmin is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration and having an active Nassau County warrant. Further investigation revealed the defendant also has an open Fifth Precinct case for two counts of Criminal Contempt. He will be arraigned on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
