Roosevelt, NY - January 15th, 2015 - First Squad detectives report the arrests of 2 men for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 9:43 pm in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, First Precinct officers responded to a “Shotspotter” call in the vicinity of 71 E. Greenwich Avenue. A witness near the scene gave police a description of a vehicle that was in the area around the time of the shots being fired.
After a description of a car that was in the area during the incident was broadcast, officers were able to locate a vehicle matching the description and conducted a car stop at Debevoise Ave. and Nassau Road. A subsequent investigation led officers to recovering 2 handguns from within the vehicle that was driven by Anthony Morris, 51, of Mockingbird Lane, Brentwood. Also in the vehicle was Rohan Golding, 41, of Francis Lewis Blvd., Rosedale.
Both Morris and Golding were placed under arrest without incident. It is unknown at this time if the defendants were involved in the initial “Shotspotter” call and the investigation into that incident is ongoing.
Both defendants are charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. Golding was additionally charged with a second count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree.
They will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 01/15/2015.
