AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Medford woman who suffers from dementia and a heart condition.

Naomi Simpson, 77, of Medford, is missing and suffer from dementia and a heart condition. Anyone with information about Simpson’s location is asked to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652 or call 911.

Update - January 16, 2017 - Naomi Simpson was located, unharmed.

Medford, NY - January 15, 2017 - The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Medford woman who suffers from dementia and a heart condition.

Naomi Simpson, 77, of Medford, was last seen on Gray Avenue in Medford on January 13.  She is believed to be on foot.

Simpson is black, 5 feet 5 inches tall and approximately 120 pounds. She has gray hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Simpson’s location is asked to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652 or call 911.

As a reminder, Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.
