Suffolk County, NY - January 17, 2014 - Legislator Al Krupski, who serves the First District in the Suffolk County Legislature, has been named Chair of the Public Works, Transportation and Energy Committee. Among other things, the committee has jurisdiction over all county public works projects including dredging, renewable energy initiatives, building construction and maintenance on county buildings and property, snow plowing and county road maintenance. The committee also reviews and considers all matters relating to public utilities.

Having served on the Environment, Planning and Agricultural (EPA) Committee for the last year since first being sworn into office, Legislator Krupski has been named Vice Chair of that committee. The EPA committee oversees farmland and open space preservation, the county’s Planning Division and Planning Commission as well as having jurisdiction of all legislation related to air and water quality.

In addition, Legislator Krupski will serve as a member of the Veterans & Seniors Committee which has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to or affecting the Office for the Aging and the Veterans Service Agency. This committee deals with any issues, problems, matters, or questions involving senior citizens and veterans at any level of government.

“I believe my experience as a farmer, a former town board member and a former trustee will be a great asset” said Legislator Krupski. “During my career as a public servant I have gained experience and understanding of many of the issues that will come before these committees. I am looking forward getting down to work.”
