AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash Crossing Route 110 in East Farmingdale

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in East Farmingdale tonight.

East Farmingdale, NY - January 17, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in East Farmingdale tonight.

Abraham Sanabria was driving a 2011 Nissan southbound on Route 110 just south of Great Neck Road when he struck Wilfrid Bien-Aime, who was crossing Route 110 from west to east at approximately 5:50 p.m. Bien-Aime, 68, of North Amityville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Sanabria, 55, of North Amityville was not injured, and stayed at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The investigation is continuing.
