Well-known Japanese hibachi grill restaurant Shiro of Japan in Carle Place – the oldest such establishment on Long Island – has unfortunately announced that they will be permanently be closing their doors for business on February 4.
 
Located at 401 Old Country Road, representatives for the eatery – which originally opened back in 1973 – said that the reason for the upcoming closure is because their landlord had chosen not to renew their lease.
 
Moving to a new location after all these years is not a possibility, they said, due to it not being “economically viable” to do so.
 
After they close their doors, Shiro will still continue to accept catering work for private and corporate events.
