Sheriff’s Office To Hold Ceremony To Commemorate More Than 30 Promotions

On Thursday, January 18 at 10:00 AM Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. will be holding a promotional ceremony for over 30 men and women of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office who were recently promoted. At the ceremony, Deputy Sheriff Inv. Captain Michael Smith will be promoted to the first ever Assistant Chief Deputy Sheriff.  The new position will report directly to the Chief Deputy Sheriff and will assist in overseeing the Sheriff’s Office’s Police Division. 

The ceremony will also recognize all the officers who were promoted to ranks of Deputy Warden, Captain, Lieutenant, or Sergeant as well as those who received an Investigator shield in the past year. Rank promotions are achieved by through exceptional marks on highly competitive exams in addition to their distinguished service in the Sheriff’s organization.  Families of those being recognized will be in attendance to celebrate their loved one’s accomplishments.
