Two Merrick Teens Arrested for Breaking Into Local High School
Merrick, NY - January 20th, 2014 - The First Squad reports the Arrests of two Merrick men that occurred in Merrick on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 9:06 P.M.
According to detectives, school personnel were notified of an alarm ringing at Calhoun High School located at 1786 State Street. A 59 year old male responded to the school and checked the security system learning the room where the alarm was triggered. He responded to the area and observed a male going through a desk. First Precinct police officers were notified and responded. As they were approaching the room two males fled on foot and exited the building. After a foot pursuit Matt Delucia, age 17 of 19 Wynsum Avenue and Kevin Hassan, age 16 of 2075 Oxford Place were taken into custody at Relyea Drive and Charlson Court. Defendant Delucia was found to be in possession of a set of keys that were proceeds of the burglary.
Both defendants were charged with Burglary 3rd Degree. In addition defendant Delucia was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. They will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, January 20, 2014.
