Shirley, NY - January 20th, 2015 - Students in Ms. Jen Hubert’s second-grade class at Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School recently performed an exciting science experiment on the water cycle. In an attempt to “make it rain” in the classroom, they filled a re-sealable plastic sandwich bag with soil and water and taped it to the window so that it was exposed to sunlight.

The moisture then evaporated and formed a small cloud inside the bag; and once that cloud inside the bag could no longer hold the moisture, water came down the inside of the bag.

“This experiment helped bring to life all phases of the water cycle,” said Ms. Hubert. “The children really enjoyed it.”
