Suffolk County, NY - January 20, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Deputy Commissioner Tim Sini and Chief of Department Stuart Cameron will be displaying SCPD Humvees equipped to assist Suffolk County residents during the impending snow storm.

In preparation for this weekend’s possible snow storm, the Suffolk County Police Department will have Humvees positioned at each precinct to ensure maximum efficiency.  Highway Patrol Bureau and additional commands will also keep vehicles on hand to use as needed throughout the police district.

The military surplus vehicles, some which were painted by BOCES Academy Automotive Technology program students, will be used by officers to respond to emergency calls and to aid stranded motorists.  In addition, three five-ton truck heavy-duty vehicles will also be on hand to transport large number of individuals to safety or shelters during the course of weather emergencies.
