Upscale Indian Restaurant Mahal Opens in Roslyn Heights
Mahal, a new Indian food restaurant has opened in Roslyn Heights offering modern Indian cuisine in a grand setting. The eatery has already had a soft opening and plans a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the second week of February.
The restaurant is fourteen months in the making, following the challenges that have plagued many other places during the pandemic. Paramjit Josan, a seasoned restaurateur, and Chef Santokh Singh opened Mahal Restaurant in a newly renovated 8,500+ sq.ft. space at 290 Glen Cove Road, between Kennedy Road and Harbor Hill Road.
“Mahal brings together old-world touches of charm and luxury with modern sensibility and functionality,” read a statement released by the owners to LongIsland.com.
They say their new venture is inspired by the rich Indian heritage and royalty, varied traditional inspired cooking is reimagined into the modern Indian dining by an experienced team.
Chef Singh has thirty years of experience in the kitchen, spending the last fifteen as head chef at Tamarind Tribeca in New York City.
“The Chef is passionate about making everything from scratch and sourcing the finest possible ingredients selected with an eye towards sustainability and a focus on local purveyors,” the statement described Singh’s style of cooking. “A keen appreciation for Indian food history plays a large role in the style and flavors that he brings to the table at Mahal dining.”
The restaurant boasts lavish interiors, a 90-seat dining room, a full bar, a cocktail lounge and private room that can accommodate parties from 35 to 125 guests.
