Two Convenience Store Workers Arrested After Allegedly Selling Illegal Tobacco & Cannabis Products

The Third Precinct reports the arrest of two females during a Quality-of-Life initiative. The initiative was conducted on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 9:50 am in Nassau County.
 
According to Officers, the following individuals were arrested at the following establishments with the assistance of Town of Hempstead Code Enforcement: 
 
  • Samantha Spinel, 20, of 56 Dorothy Drive, East Meadow sold tobacco/cannabis products at Exotic Smoke Shop located at 796 Carmen Avenue, Westbury. She is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Unlawful Sale of Cannabis. 
  • Mackenzie Rae Kelly, 18, of 1299 Dahlia Lane, Wantagh sold tobacco/cannabis products at 2125 Hempstead Convenience located at 2125 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow. She is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Unlawful Sale of Cannabis.
 
Defendant Samantha Spinel and Defendant Mackenzie Rae Kelly will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. 
 
On January 25, 2024 an employee at Exotic Smoke shop was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell and violation of Town of Hempstead Chapter 91 Nuisance.  On March 18, 2024 an employee at 2125 Hempstead Convenience was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell as well as Town of Hempstead Chapter 91 Nuisance.
