Sword-Wielding Hicksville Man Accused of Breaking into Nassau Residence and Attacking Multiple Occupants, Cops Say

The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Hicksville man for Burglary that occurred in Hicksville on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 1:55 am.
 
According to detectives, Second Precinct police responded to a Princess Street residence for Criminal Mischief and Assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, police observed that a 2011 Volkswagen parked outside the residence had damage to all windows and two headlights. 
 
During an investigation defendant Simranjeet Singh, 27, of 29 Thorman Avenue was observed exiting the rear yard and identified as being one of many attackers inside the residence. Singh was placed into police custody. 
 
Further investigation revealed that multiple unknown male subjects had entered the residence through a basement door. Once inside the subjects carried various objects including a black handgun and a large metal sword. The subjects began attacking at least five male victims while in their bedrooms causing them injury. 
 
A 23-year-old male victim sleeping identified defendant Singh that swung a large sword striking him in his back causing a laceration. A 20-year-old male victim sleeping identified Singh swinging a large sword at him and struck him in his left leg, left forearm, right thumb and palm that caused lacerations. A 21-year-old male victim sleeping identified the defendant in swinging a sword and striking him in his right foot and leg causing deep lacerations. A 20-year-old male victim stated multiple male subjects entered his bedroom and struck him with a piece of wood before punching him with closed fists and striking him with a black handgun. The victim suffered bruising and swelling. A 20-year-old male victim stated multiple male victims entered his bedroom and struck him multiple times with closed fists. That victim reported no injuries at that time. Both the black handgun and the large metal sword have been recovered. 
 
All four victims with injuries were transported by a Nassau County police ambulance to a nearby hospital and treated for their injuries.   
Defendant Simranjeet Singh is charged with two counts of Burglary 1st Degree, Assault First Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Gang Assault 1st Degree, Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
