AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. East Rockaway, NY - January 27th, 2014 - The Public Information Office reports the details of an Unusual Incident that occurred in East Rockaway on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 9:05 am.

According to police, a 24 year old male was operating a 2005 Cadillac in the vicinity of Dock Street and Althouse Avenue. The victim suffered a medical episode (possible seizure) that caused him to lose control of his vehicle and sending it into the water. Fourth Precinct Police Officers, Marine Bureau, and Emergency Services Unit responded to the location. The victim was able to exit the water on his own and was removed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was then removed from the water by Emergency Services and the Marine Bureau.

There is no apparent criminality.
