AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. A Taste of Long Island: Long Island’s premier food, wine and beer tasting event—will celebrate its 11th year on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 6:30-10:00p.m at Coindre Hall.

East Northport, NY - January 29th, 2014 - A Taste of Long Island: Long Island’s premier food, wine and beer tasting event - will celebrate its 11th year on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 6:30 -10:00 PM at Coindre Hall.

This year’s event will be joined by special celebrity guests Luca Manfe, 2013 Master Chef Winner; Barret Beyer, Hell’s Kitchen Contestant; Rob Burmeister, Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen Contestant; and Anna and Michael from LIRestraurantReview.com.  For the first time this year, all participating restaurants will be showcasing their culinary and creative talents in four categories: most creative dish; best table presentation; tastiest dish; and people’s choice, which will be decided by the celebrity guests.

This juried event attracts hundreds of foodies and wine and beer connoisseurs to the beautiful Coindre Hall, overlooking the Huntington Harbor, and is one of the most popular events on the North Shore.

 The Proceeds from the event supports four important causes--Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk, Inc.; the East Northport Chamber of Commerce; and the Rotary International. In addition, the event will honor the Boccia family, in memory of Captain Joseph J. Boccia, Jr., USMC-Beirut 1983.

A Taste of Long Island will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Admission for adults is $75 in advance or $85 at the door; there is no entry fee for participating restaurants.  Sponsorship opportunities are available. Coindre Hall is located at 101 Browns Road in Huntington, New York.
