Two Men Arrested for Dix Hills Gas Station Robbery

Suffolk County Police today arrested two men for robbing a gas station in Dix Hills early this morning.

Dix Hills, NY - January 29th, 2015 - Suffolk County Police today arrested two men for robbing a gas station in Dix Hills early this morning.

Two men entered Sunoco, located at 1888 East Jericho Turnpike, pushed a store clerk and stole the cash register at approximately 3 a.m.

A short time later, Second Precinct Patrol Officer Peter Devlin observed the two men in a 2014 Nissan Altima. As Officer Devlin was following the vehicle, one of the men threw the cash register out of the window at Majestic Drive and Regency Lane in Dix Hills.

Shane McAdams, 20, of Horton Drive, Huntington Station, was arrested at the scene. Nicholas Schmiedel, 21, of Gables Court, Dix Hills, who fled the traffic stop on foot, was arrested a short time later by Second Precinct Patrol Sergeant William Miller.

Second Squad detectives charged McAdams and Schmiedel with Robbery 2nd Degree. They will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on January 30.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
