Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) and Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) joined law enforcement leaders and their colleagues in government at the David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence on Sunday, Jan. 26 to pay tribute to the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the public.

During the event, which is part of a year-long commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Nassau County Police Department, 50 members of the NCPD who died in the line of duty were honored and will have a street in the County renamed as a tribute to their legacy.

“Every police officer who lost their lives while in service to this County made an indelible mark upon the people of Nassau and the communities they served,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “Through this ceremony and renaming streets in their honor, we will make sure that their memories will live on forever for future generations to reflect upon.”

“Law enforcement is a form of public service that is fraught with danger – and far too often police officers lose their lives while fulfilling their duties,” Legislator Koslow said. “This ceremony and the forthcoming street renaming ceremonies are fitting tributes to these local heroes and will ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.”
