Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a North Bellmore man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for stabbing his wife to death in their home in October 2022 while their eight-year-old child was in his bedroom.

Anthony Paruolo, 39, pleaded guilty before Judge Robert A. Schwartz to Murder in the Second Degree (an A-I felony) on December 4, 2024.

The defendant was sentenced today to 20 years to life in prison.

“This defendant claimed a life and shattered a family when he stabbed his wife to death in the home they shared with their son,” said DA Donnelly. “By pleading guilty, Anthony Paruolo accepted responsibility for his horrific and senseless crime, and today’s sentence ensures he is held fully accountable for the pain that he has caused. Our thoughts remain with Danielle Paruolo’s family and their son as they continue to navigate this unimaginable tragedy.”

DA Donnelly said that on October 6, 2022, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Nassau County Police Department officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at the defendant’s North Bellmore home. Danielle Paruolo, 42, was looking to separate from her husband and had been taking steps toward a divorce, which led to the incident.

When authorities arrived, they found Paruolo deceased in a pool of blood with an approximately 13-inch-long chef’s knife in her neck and stab wounds to her head, neck, and torso.

The couple’s eight-year-old child was found unharmed in another bedroom.

Paruolo was arrested on October 7, 2022, at approximately 1:06 a.m. at a relative’s home in Kings Park by the Suffolk County Police Department and transported to the NCPD Homicide Squad.

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Litigation Counsel Ania Pulaski of the Homicide Bureau, under the supervision of Deputy Bureau Chief Daryl Levy, and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Litigation Division Kevin Higgins. The defendant is represented by David Haber, Esq.
